Frequently Asked Questions
What is an AEDT bias audit?
An AEDT (Automated Employment Decision Tool) bias audit is a statistical analysis required by NYC Local Law 144 and similar regulations. It tests whether your AI hiring system discriminates against protected groups (race, gender, age, etc.) by comparing selection rates across demographic categories using the 4/5ths rule and statistical significance tests.
What data do I need to upload?
A CSV file with hiring decisions (screened, interviewed, offered) and demographic data (gender, ethnicity, age). Our system auto-detects common column formats. We only store the mapped demographic data — raw files are permanently deleted within 1 hour of upload.
How is my data protected?
Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Raw CSV files are deleted after parsing. We store only anonymized, mapped demographic counts needed for analysis. You control retention periods (30-180 days). We never sell data or use it for any purpose other than generating your audit report. Full data deletion available on request.
What regulations require this?
NYC Local Law 144 (active since July 2023) requires annual bias audits for AI hiring tools used in NYC. California AB 331/SB 1047 and the EU AI Act (Annex III) impose similar requirements. Even if you're not in these jurisdictions yet, proactive audits demonstrate due diligence and help prevent discrimination lawsuits.
How long does an audit take?
Upload takes 1-2 minutes. Analysis runs in under 5 minutes for most datasets (up to 50,000 candidates). Your PDF report is generated immediately after analysis. Total time from upload to download: typically under 10 minutes.
Can I try before buying?
Yes. Our free plan includes 1 full audit (up to 200 candidates) with a complete PDF report. No credit card required. You can also view a live demo with sample data at /demo to see the full workflow before signing up.
